The 1933 Czech film, Ecstasy, or Ekstase, in German, starred then unknown film actress Hedy Lamarr.  In the film, Lamarr is a hungry but  unsatisfied young wife, who flees her asexual husband.

The movie is considered to be the first non-pornographic film to feature sexual intercourse. It is also thought to be the first onscreen capture of a woman’s orgasm, as depicted through Lamarr’s facial expressions. 

Not only was Lamarr brave and innovative as a sexual being, she was also brilliant.  She is credited with the invention of a frequency hopping device, and was granted a patent for it in 1942. The concept serves as a basis for modern spread-spectrum communication technology, such as what is used in WiFi network connections and some cordless and wireless telephones.
