When asked how many husbands she’d had, Peggy replied: “Do you mean my own or other people’s?”
She also put together a noteworthy collection of art in her palazzo in Venice. Over the years, and at one point with the mandate to purchase one painting a day, she acquired over 70 pieces by the likes of Picasso, Dali, Chagall, Ernst, Magritte and Klee.
Her museum in Venice stands as a respected showcase of Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and Cubism from the first half of the 20th century.
